I graduated locally, from Texas A&M University - Texarkana. I have worked in community mental health for 4 1/2yrs, which has given me extensive experience in assisting individuals with severe mental difficulties such as, schizophrenia, schizoaffective, bipolar disorder with psychosis, major depressive disorder, PTSD, addiction, and some personality disorders. With my experience, I have learned that people get help when they are ready, and not any sooner.
My goal is to be that person you feel comfortable enough to speak with about what is hiding in your shadows.
I enjoy the darker side of life, which some people think of as "odd", "weird", and/or "strange" but I consider that my unique twist to the services I provide. I enjoy the art of holistic herbal medicine by making tinctures, teas, and salves. I enjoy reading, gardening, listening to music, tea/coffee, essential oil, and tarot.
In my practice, I am considered to be an eclectic therapist. I use psychodynamic approach, based on the Jungarian theory, which includes analyzing consious and unconsious thoughts, dream analysis, and shadow work.
Reality Thereapy and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) are two forms of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy that are widely used. REBT focuses on irrational beliefs that affect your thoughts and feelings. While, reality therapy operates on "Choice Theory", the belief that all behavior is a choice and instead of dwellling on the past that can't be changed, focus on what can be controlled.
The use of Gestalt therapy is a form of humanistic approach that emphasizes the client's role in their own life. Gestalt is a more confrontational type of therapist.
Eclectic therapists use multiple types of theories and approaches to best fit their clients needs.

At Obsidian, we believe in the power of the earth's healing properties. Medication might be a must for some, but for simpler remedies, the use of teas, oils, and self-care is preferred. Difficulties with sleep, mild anxiety, mild depression, and some physical pain can be treated with natural remedies. Recommendations can be provided. However, all holistric treatments should be checked against current medications with a professional to avoid negative interactions, even a simple supplement can change the effectiveness of a prescription medication.
